Can I just state the Obvious?

BEING A MOM IS HARD WORK!

Clay has been teething lately and not sleeping a wink. I have been using teething tablets, oral gel, teeth rings, cold wash cloths, and Tylenol. I feel so helpless to see my usually happy baby in so much pain. We are both exhausted! Do you have any teething secrets to share?

Dave loves burping Clay after he eats. This was after i did a "Dream feed" so Clay is out!

Isn't he about six months old now? If so have you given him motrin? It helps more then Tylenol in my opinion. Also I don't know if this is true or not but I heard not to give orajel because it toughens up the gums and makes it harder for the tooth to break through. Who knows that could be a myth but it made me not want to use it when I heard. Teething seriously is no fun and I think it is just as hard on the mommy. Hang in there. At least he is so cute.

OH man, teething is a such a pain! Sorry I don't know any other tricks than the ones you are already doing! Talk to your doctor and see if you can switch doses from tylenol to motrin... Clay is such a cute little boy! I love those pictures of him and Dave together too. So cute.

I don't know if you know, but we had our twins, Emily and Ethan. They were born 17 weeks early so they are just tiny.

Anyway sorry I couldn't be of more help with the teething. I had a hard time with that too. Good luck!

I WISH I had some amazing advice for you about teething but unfortunately, I don't. Sounds like you're doing everything that I've heard of. :) Sometimes you just have to stick through it...but that's the hardest part! Good luck and I hope he breaks his teeth in soon so it doesn't go on too much longer!

Clay's absolutely adorable by the way!

I have an amazing trick. But some people won't use it because they think it is gross, but it works! I don't know if you want me putting what it is on your blog. If you want, email me and I'll tell you what it is and how to get some.

AMEN! Being a mom is the hardest job in the world! It's so rewarding though! Hope things get better with Clay's teething, I'm not looking forward to that stage with Kayt. We are still working on the sleeping at night thing. Hang in there. :)

Oh I am sorry. What a cutie though. You know, I didn't notice too much when Ella was teething... not that it's over. If anything, just try to grab naps whenever you can so that you can deal with things.

what a pretty baby! I agree, motherhood is hard. As far as teething goes, I don't have any words of wisdom. When Lil was around 14 months she got lots of teeth all at once so she screamed in the middle of the night. I would either turn a movie on for her or give her a bottle. That was all I could do to help her through it. Just know that we all go through it and you are doing everything you can to help him.

Yes, definitely try Motrin! That's the only thing we use now for teething, because nothing else seemed to help. It gets better!

We gave Belen cold carrots to gnaw on when she was teething. Motrin is really hard on the tummy and can eventually cause ulcers. We only use Motrin if Belen has a high fever and have to alternate between it and Tylenol to keep it down. There is really nothing you can do that you haven't already been doing...teething is tough on mom and baby and will be until he has all of his teeth in...sorry to say that there really isn't a miracle ointment that will take away all the pain for your little guy.

I just remembered something I did with Lukas. I put Vanilla on his gums. It seriously helped a TON!Someone suggested this too me and I did a few times but after the first few teeth the teething didn't bother him too much.

oh Melissa...I didn't mean to make you feel bad...teething is a rough thing to go through! I hope Clay starts to feel better soon!
Thank you for calling and putting our little twins names in the temple. We really appreciate that. Tell Dave Ryan says Hi!

One other piece of advice is to get popcicles, we call them otter pops, you know the ones with the plastic on them. Cut a small hole in it and let him suck/ gnaw on it. It numbs his gums and he likes is because it tastes good. Make sure you use a bib. Call me if you need anything.

Yeah I am going to try to go to the reunion. Even if it is just me and my kids with my mom. Dan might have to stay and work.

Teething is awful!!! I wish they had a magic solution. It'll get better though, I promise. And I'm sure you are a GREAT mother, poor little kids just have a lot to deal with. Luckily they don't remember it though. Thats the great thing with the lil munchkins.

He's already teething?? Avery hasn't even started teething yet. You are doing about all you can. You just have to wait it out. I would always freeze otter pops-I don't let them eat them but they like to chew on them through the wrapper. The cold helps. Good luck!

Ha ha "dream feed" baby whispere? Love 'er much(0: Kay so I wanna know the gross things Rindi was talking about, lol, but yeah, pretty much I think it's one of the first in a long string of trials we signed up for in pre-mortality. I'm not sure I'd sign up for that particular trial again, lol, but I guess my kids and I would all look really wierd without any teeth. Good luck and god bless! Have your husband give him a blessing if that's cool with you guys. It's really helped both of my girls.
